What do I need to tow a trailer with my 2022 Toyota Highlander? I do not have the XSE model or the factory tow package.

In order to tow a trailer with your 2022 Toyota Highlander you will need the following items, a hitch receiver and a 4-way connector. The hitch receiver that I recommend is the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2", part # C45CR. It has a maximum tongue weight of 900 lbs and a maximum gross trailer weight of 6,000 lbs. Once this hitch receiver is installed you can get your 4-way connector. This will allow your trailer to mirror the lights of the tow vehicle. Once installed your trailer will have left and right turn signals, brake lights, and running lights. The T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector, part # TK99FR, is the product I recommend to get you the necessary 4-way connector. It is a plug in connector, so there is no need to splice any wires.
