Question:
hello, My name is Shawn. I have a 1992 Toyota Hilux 2.8L Diesel 4x4 5-speed that has been imported from Japan. It does not have a rear bumper on this model. Im looking for the best tow hitch that looks the cleanest and does not hang down to far. Ive tried to read all the information on the hitches available for this truck but still cannot seem to decide which would be the best. Which hitch would you recommend for my application? Thanks

For your 1992 Toyota Hilux, we did have a neighbor that installed the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # 13086 on his Toyota Hilux model. I went ahead and attached a picture of the fitment of the hitch on his truck. However, I called Curt and my contact confirmed that there is no way of telling if that hitch will fit for sure on your 1992 Toyota Hilux. Also, as you can see in the attached picture, the hitch does not have the cleanest installation.
With that being said, I recommend a universal hitch like the Class V Universal Weld-on Receiver Hitch and Brackets with 3" Drop # 15901. This hitch includes sliding brackets that will fit frames that are between 18 and 44 inches. Also, you will be able to customize the fit how you want it to fit which will allow you to install the hitch close to the frame. With this hitch, you will have a maximum tongue weight of 1,500 pounds. However, I recommend confirming with your vehicle's owner's manual to make sure your vehicle can handle that much weight.
