How Much Room Is Needed To Install SumoSprings On A Trailer

have tandum axle flatbed...want to increase capacity a little- the items I saw online are springs that fit over leaf springs....do they use air or just springs....how tall are they so I can measure for installation etc....more details helpful

I measured the SumoSprings Trailer Helper Springs # TSS-107-40 and it will be either 6-3/4" with both spacers, 6-1/4" with one spacer, or 5-3/4" with no spacer when measured from the top of the U-Bolt plate to the top of the spring once put together and installed. So you do have some adjustability if needed. It will also accommodate a U-Bolt plate that is up to 5 inches wide.
The SumoSprings # TSS-107-40 are made from patented micro-cellular urethane, so there will be no air in them. These can also compresses up to 80 percent of their original height with full memory rebound.
With that being said, I do need to mention that these are designed to supplement the suspension system and will not add any capacity to it. If you wanted to increase the capacity of your trailer's suspension, you will need to upgrade to heavier leaf springs and possible the axle as well. However, they will help reduce the strain on the leaf springs and will definitely help with any body roll, sway, or bottoming out issues.
