Troubleshooting Landing Gear Popping on a 2010 Keystone Raptor 5th Wheel
Updated 10/27/2021 | Published 10/26/2021 >
Question:
Just purchased a 2010 Raptor 361LEV and have an issue with the landing gear popping and not lifting the front of the rv. I am new to the 5th wheel world and am not sure if it is the gear box, motor, or the worm drive in the legs. Once I got on the hitch and the weight off of the legs they came up without the popping. Please help!!!!!

What you are describing can be a result of a battery with insufficient charge, a problem with the motor itself, the gear box, or an internal problem. First thing I'd check is the power source and ground for the landing gear. If you can get access to the actual jack motor terminals and can apply 12V power and you find the jack lifts properly when directly powered in this way, then you know you have a power supply issue.
If it is not a power issue there are replacement motors, gear boxes and legs available but given the fact that we aren't sure exactly what it could be I would considering replacing the landing gear set.
Based on what I Could Find, it looks like your 2010 Keystone Raptor 5th Wheel Trailer should be equipped with a Venture landing gear system. I do recommend verifying this. For a great replacement system, I recommend looking at the Lippert Electric Landing Gear Set # LC333964. This system features an electric motor to eliminate the need for hand cranking and a combined weight capacity of 6,000 pounds. The outer tube has a length of 29-1/2 inches and the distance between the weld stops is 17-1/2 inches. You can compare these dimensions to your current landing gear to see if this will install without the need for any modification. Otherwise, mounting brackets are included that can be welded onto the trailer for installation.
