Question:

After having my 2018 Forest River Salem Cruise Lite 171RBXL in storage for 2.5 months, I was unable to retract the rear stabilizer. I had to disconnect the motor and manually retract them. I have accessed the 6 amp reset breaker and it makes a single click noise when the retract switch is depressed. I also noticed a small slice in the insulation around both the positive and negative wire to the motor from the breaker. Could the breaker be bad? The trailer was in storage in Arizona during monsoon season, but the battery was completely disconnected and in the front storage compartment of the trailer.

It's not out of the question that the breaker could be bad which we offer the part # LC134181 as a replacement but it's also possible it's something else like the motor being bad and wanting to draw too much amperage which is causing it to trip. We have the replacement motor with the part # LC138445.

You could bypass the breaker and see if the motor runs and if the wire starts to get too warm. If it works fine it's the breaker but if the wire starts to get warm it's the motor.
