Question:
Which has a cleaner look: CURT 12339 or Draw Tite 36293 ? I will only use for a 3 bike rack system. No towing. Also, my guess is Draw Tite may offer a little more ground clearance for road dips, etc. Thanks for your consideration!

In my opinion, the Draw-Tite trailer hitch # 36293 has a cleaner look than Curt hitch # C12339. I have included a picture showing the hitches side by side installed on a vehicle for you to compare. The Curt hitch has that bracket that goes beneath the muffler on your 2000 Toyota Avalon. The Draw-Tite hitch does not so it appears a little cleaner.
Ground clearance would be about the same on either hitch.
Another thing about the Curt hitch is that they require the use of a stabilization strap, # 18050, for all non-trailer loads, such as a bike rack, to be in compliance with the warranty requirements.
Draw-Tite does not require a strap.
For a compatible bike rack I recommend the Swagman Trailhead # S63365. It features a rise in the shank for additional ground clearance. I have linked a video review of this rack for you.
If you will be carrying any bikes that do not have a top frame tube that goes straight across (like a typical mens bike) I recommend using adapter bar # S64005. This will allow you to carry those bikes more level. I use adapters similar to this and without them my wifes bike would be at a severe angle and I would not be able to load my sons bike at all. I have included a video link showing how the adapter works.
