Troubleshooting B and W Turnoverball Gooseneck Release Lever that Wont Release All the Way

Question:

Hi there, I bought a vehicle with this BW hitch installed. Recently I bought the 5th wheel companion hitch for this gooseneck hitch. The lever on my gooseneck hitch pulls out but will not turn. This results in the gooseneck hitch pin not fully retracting. As such the fifth wheel hitch is difficult or impossible to remove. Is there a replacement lever/spring kit available for this gooseneck hitch? Or, do you have a recommendation to fix this issue? Thanks

I spoke to my contact at B&W about the issues you are having with the B&W Turnoverball Underbed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch w/ Custom Installation Kit part # BWGNRK1108 on your truck. They informed me that the spring that encompasses the release handle is worn out which means the threshold that is needed for the handle to hold in position is compromised. In order to fix the issue B&W said to cut a few coils out of the release spring that the handle sits inside.
