Troubleshooting Stuck Latch Pin to Remove B&W Companion 5th Wheel Hitch

Question:
Removal of the companion base. I am trying to remove the base from my truck. But, the latch pin will not release that is under the drivers side fender well. Ive tried penetrating oil to aid with loosening to no avail. It is a fairly new unit with no issues in the past.

I reached out to B&W regarding the issue you are having trying to remove the B&W Companion 5th Wheel Hitch # BWRVK3500 and was told that on occasion the pin becomes bent when the bolt is torqued down, and what you will need to do is drive it out from the passenger side. They said it is a possibility that the pin has become bent, and sometimes if it is not fully engaged when it is installed, this can occur, and if you can drive the pin out you'll be able confirm this was the issue.

The response from B & W is partially accurate . With the latch pin fully engaged torquing the base unit to the specified torque of 60ft lbs can bend the latch pin. A bad design flaw mine has done it when fully engaged
