Is the Andersen Aluminum Ultimate 5th Wheel Connection 3220 the 3rd Generation?

Updated 09/04/2025 | Published 08/29/2025

Question:

Is the Andersen ultimate hitch model 3220 the generation 3 version? Also, will this hitch work on a 2025 Chevy Silverado 3500 HD? I am concerned about how high the rails are on the truck bed and want to make sure the Andersen hitch 3220 will be compatible for my truck so when hitched, I have at least 6” of clearance from bed rail to fifth wheel body. Thank you.

Hey Steve. The Andersen Aluminum Ultimate 5th Wheel Connection 2 Gooseneck version item # 3220 is the 3rd generation. So long as your 2025 Chevy Silverado 3500 has a gooseneck ball like item # RP23FR you'll be able to connect it. You'll need to take some measurements to see if you have enough clearance.

The Anderson item # 3220 has three height adjustments 16-3/4" lower position, 17-7/8" middle position, and 19-1/8" upper position. This is measured from the bed of the truck to the top of ball mount.

Did you ever get a gooseneck ball?

Thanks for the response Jared. I did not get the Reese ball yet, I want to make sure my “ducks” are in a row before the purchase. I have heard good things about the Andersen hitch, but I want to make sure it is safe and the right hitch for me. I will take the measurements and that should let me know if the height will be enough.

Good morning Jarred. I have seen that there is a bed shaft available for the Andersen ultimate hitch, which takes place of a gooseneck ball. Is the Andersen bed shaft available for purchase through etrailer? I have not seen it. Thank you
