How To Choose the Correct Lube Plate

Question:

Should the lube plate be the same width as the king pin plate?

Helpful Expert Reply:

Generally speaking, the lube plate will need to cover the skid plate on the 5th wheel hitch. There are some pin boxes out there that will recommend a specific lube plate but most of the times this classification will be from the 5th wheel hitch manufacturer. The two most common sizes for a lube plate in regards to diameter are, 10" and 12". However, most of the time the 5th wheel hitch manufacturer will call for a certain thickness so you will need to check this as well in your owner's manual. The Curt Lube Plate part # 16721 for 10" or part # C16722 for 12" are both 3/16" thick which is suitable for most 5th wheel hitches.

@StirlingY Hey Stirling, it looks like all of our lube plates like # RP83002 are going to be 3/16" thick.
