Question:
How would an over adjusted weight distribution system affect the trailer suspension? Could you overload your trailer suspension even though the weight on the axles is less than gvwr without the distribution hitch ?

Expert Reply:
Over adjusting a weight distribution system can cause a few things to happen. First and foremost, slight over adjustment will affect the ride making it harsh on both the trailer and towing vehicle.
In more severe cases this can lift the front of the trailer up as well as lifting the back of the vehicle. This can cause the trailer to jack-knife much more easily.
On the other hand, under adjusting will not negatively affect anything, but it also won't do the job it is designed to do..
