I just want to be sure to find a hitch that fits the 1995 Dakota I own.

The Hitch # C13145 will fit your 1995 Dodge Dakota as long as it does not have the optional rear spoiler, lower rear fascia, or a roll pan or tube bumper.

If you plan on doing some towing, you will also want to pick up a wiring harness. The wiring harness that I recommend for your truck is the Tow Ready T-One Harness, # 118329. This harness will simply plug into your tail light assemblies and does not require any cutting or splicing.

The final items that you may need to complete your towing set up are a ball mount, hitch ball and pin and clip. For this, I recommend looking at our Ball Mount Kit, # 989900. This kit includes 2 different size hitch balls and ball mounts if you find yourself towing multiple trailers or needing different rises or drops to tow your trailer level. It also includes a storage bag to keep your items out of the elements when you are not towing.
