This Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver brings real capability to your setup with a Class III rating and a 2" x 2" receiver opening. It’s rated for a maximum gross trailer weight of 5,000 lbs and a maximum tongue weight of 500 lbs. When used with weight distribution, that jumps to 8,000 lbs GTW and 800 lbs TW. Whether you’re towing a small camper or hauling a utility trailer, this hitch is built for reliable performance every time you hit the road.
You don’t need special tools or a lift to get this hitch installed. It bolts directly onto the frame using pre-drilled holes—no welding or drilling required. The included complete hardware kit and installation instructions make it easy to get the job done in your own driveway with basic hand tools.
The square-tube design is fully welded for strength and precision. A gloss black powder coat finish layered over a protective base coat keeps corrosion at bay while maintaining a clean look under the bumper. The hitch was installed on a vehicle and that vehicle has been sold. Installation was easy enough and it worked just fine to two or three times I had to use it, towing a tow dolly. The light harness was simple to install as well and worked quite well.

I bought the C13280 Curt trailer hitch for my 2001 Dodge Dakota to pull a small utility trailer. It was a very simple, straight-forward installation and a perfect fit right out of the box. I installed it all by myself but it may have been a little bit easier with the help of another person. This hitch is a solid built quality item and i expect to get many years of use from it. The hitch came very quickly. I ordered it on a holiday weekend and was surprised that it was shipped on the holiday! A friend helped install it, which took less than an hour. The hitch works great with my small trailer. I would highly recommend this product and this company.

I upgraded to a slightly larger trailer. It was easy to switch to a bigger hitch ball. The hitch works great hauling more than a ton of dirt on the trailer.
The hitch arrived a day early and I was able to install it myself with my 1/2" impact and floor jack in about 45 minutes, this time includes answering 2 phone calls. The box was semi damaged and I was thankful that the hardware was wrapped seperately and securely taped into the receiver. Fits my truck perfectly. I do wish it might have had a bracket for the plug. No Big Deal.
The hitch is well-made and has held up well over the first year. I work at a place where we sell things that you must have a hitch receiver to use. Based on my own positive experience, I regularly recommend etrailer.com as a place for customers to get one at a fair price and with good service.

Working and holding up very well even considering the all the salt they dump on the roads here over the Minnesota winters.
Selecting the hitch for my Dakota was easy and the installation video was excellent. The hitch fit like a glove and went on with ease.
The wiring harness for the trailer snapped into place in less than 5 minutes. I'm ready to pull!

The hitch came 2 days before I was expecting it which worked out great for me. All the holes lined up perfectly and using the vid on your site made it easy to figure just how to install it. Took less than an hour for me. Now I just have to get the old hitch ball off the truck bumper.
Product arrived quickly and although the box was damaged, the hitch was fine. Bolted right on my 2002 Dodge Dakota as promised. The videos on the web site were a great help! It took me about 15 mins. to install with the help of a couple of jack stands. Looks great. Thank you!
Product looks good and seems to be good quality. Perfect match for my 2003 dodge dakota. Install took about 15-20 minutes, one person can do it but having an extra set of hands helps. Can’t express enough how pleased I am with etrailer.com, I put my order in around 6pm on a Wednesday (paid for 3 day shipping) and it arrived around noon on Friday. Great company, will use again if I need another. Highly recommend!
Excellent experience! Hitch on 98 Dakota bent down a little just from Lowe's to my house when I first got trailer and mower. Went online, found this company, ordered and received in 5 days. 2 of those days were the weekend, and 1 was President's Day. The install was much easier than I thought. I removed the two existing bolts while waiting for UPS. I also set up a block and couple small boards to rest the thing on one side. When it came, I had everything ready to go, and it took about 20 minutes do put on, and tighten down. I didn't have a torque wrench, so I used the red Loctite, and get them very tight with an 18" breaker bar. It was all in all a great deal. Shipped fast, went on easy and seems like it is more solid than the truck I bolted it to. :) The main problem was the height of hitch ball, and this seems to have completely solved that problem. The tools I used, basic ratchet, deep 11/16 and deep 3/4, reg 3/4. 18" breaker bar.
Trailer hitch could not have fit any better. The packaging was inadequate and metal was sticking out of both sides of the tattered box. The paint was rubbed off where the packaging was not protecting it. The hardware was excellent and I installed this hitch and torqued the nuts in under 2 hours and I didn't even hustle. The old upper rear bumper bolts were frozen, so I appreciate getting hardened steel replacements. The welding is nice but maybe a bit convex in some of the profiles. I had never heard of Curt hitches but this is well made.
Nice quality hitch, installed myself because I had a frustrating experience with my local trailer place in the recent past and the only trouble I had was getting 20-year old rusty bolts out of my truck once I got them out then the new hitch/ hardware looked great
Installed this on my 1987 Dakota. The early trucks require more drilling, but that was easy enough. It fit perfect, and tucks up nice and tight to the factory step bumper.

The box arrived quite beat up, but the receiver was in fine shape. I noted some chipped/scratched paint, but nothing was bent or damaged. Before bolting it up I sprayed the problem paint areas with a little quick-dry polyurethane to prevent rust from cropping up. Bolted up perfectly! There was some open space between the plates for the second horizontal bolt, but after torquing it to 70 lbs, everything snugged up and was tight. It fits nice and close under the bumper which is good because the Dakota is not that high to begin with. Very happy with the purchase.

Great! Still rock solid, luckily in southern California we dont deal with road salt. Its a little dusty, but the parts are still great
After watching a few instillation videos and reading through the comments I was falsely confident that this was going to be an easy task. After several hours of trial and error I finally got this thing installed. The hitch itself is nice but it didn’t bolt right up like I had thought it was going to. I had to remove my bumper and cut some slots where the hitch sticks out on the sides. I had to trim off a piece of my frame where the hitch mounts to the sides. And I had to make the holes in the back where the hitch mounts to the frame larger because the hole pattern was slightly off. Had I known this prior to installing, things might have gone a bit smoother. 1995 Dodge Dakota
