Correct Base Plate Kit for Towing a 1995 Toyota Tacoma with a Roadmaster Falcon 2 Tow Bar RM-525

Updated 03/21/2013 | Published 03/19/2013

Question:

We got the Roadmaster Falcon 5250 setup with our used rv purchase, but the owner sold his tow car with the brackets on it. We have a 1995 Toyota Tacoma SR5 4 wheel drive. Are these the correct brackets for the above vehicle ? Also, we have all the other parts except what might have to be on the vehicle such as light wiring etc. IS there anything else you would recommend we get to complete the tow installation ? Thanks in advance !

The # 1133-1 Roadmaster base plate kit you referenced is a fit for the 4WD models of the 1995 Toyota Tacoma but you would need an adapter to use it with a Roadmaster Falcon 2 5250 tow bar, our part # RM-525.

To make things easier, get the Blue Ox base plate kit # BX3728, as this will connect directly to the tow bar without need for an adapter, and it is also a custom-fit for your vehicle.

For a simple wiring solution, you could use a magnetic light kit such as part # RM-2120. The Roadmaster Universal Hy-Power diode wiring kit # RM-154 would offer a more permanent option, as it would be splice connected to the wires behind the tail light on your Tacoma. This kit would utilize the main red lights on your vehicle for both the stop and the turn signal functions instead of using your separate turn signal bulb. If you would like the separate turn signal bulbs to function you would need to get kit # 154-792-118158 instead, which included two extra diodes and a tail light converter.

You may also want to look into a braking system such as the Blue Ox Patriot, part # BLU37TR.

If you can provide some additional information on the plug style on the RV, I would be glad to make some more specific suggestions for you. You will also want to check your owners manual for any specific requirements or warnings regarding flat towing your vehicle before you begin. See the included links for some helpful FAQs and typical installation videos.
