Video Transcript for Review of Blue Ox Flat Tow Wiring Harness - 2 Inch Receiver Mounted Tow Light Bar - BLU83QV

Hi everybody. Andy here with etrailer. Let's take a quick look at this Blue Ox receiver mounted tow light bar. Now this is going to be a universal receiver mounted light bar that's designed specifically for flat towed vehicles. So this is going to give you your towed vehicles proper turn signals, brake lights, and taillights while you're towing your vehicle behind your RV. What you currently see right now is the taillights that are lit up and activated, and let me go ahead and walk through the other functions.

So let me turn around here to make sure I'm seeing the right thing as well. So you see the white turn signal there, and then let me go ahead and move my connection here. And then you see the left turn signal. And then I'm gonna go ahead and activate the brakes as well. And then let me go ahead and shut my lights off here real quick.

And I just wanted to give you a better idea of what this is going to look like in the dark. So again, there's the taillights, and then there's the breaks. So it's gonna be very visible. I'm gonna give you a closeup view here as well. Taillights, brakes.

So I think this is gonna do a great job of showing everybody your intentions with your vehicle that you're flat towing. So taillights, left turn signal, right turn signal, and brakes. So the setup is gonna be really easy, really straightforward. Again, this bar is going to slide right into your standard two inch receiver and it's going to lock in place with the included pin and clip. So that's a nice addition here.

So no complicated mounting or permanent installation is going to be required with this. From there, you're going to run this included wiring harness up to the front of your vehicle and connect it to your RV's wiring connector. And then when you're ready to tow, let me disconnect this just so you can see this. When you're ready to tow, you're just going to plug the four flat connector from the light bar here into that wiring harness, and then you're gonna be good to go. So again, this comes with everything that you're gonna need. Comes with the light bar, the hitch pin and clip, and these two red plastic pieces here will snap right into the light bar here to cover up those screw holes. And then your wiring harness, it's gonna be a simple removable solution that's gonna give your towed vehicle the lighting signals that it needs to stay safe without having to tap into your vehicle's factory wiring permanently, which is a great plus. Let me leave you with some measurements just so you have a good idea of the size. So looking the height, we are sitting right at eight and a half inches tall, and then the width, pretty close to 16 and three eights inches wide. And then the length, it's gonna be kind of tricky to show you. So I'm measuring from the front of our light all the way to the back, so basically the overall length. I guess you could call it depth as well. So we're gonna be sitting right at about nine and a half inches it looks like. And then another measurement that might be even more important is from the center of our hitch pin hole to the front of our light. So lemme see if I can line that up here. And it looks like we're gonna be sitting right at about seven inches. So hopefully those measurements will be helpful for you. But again, I think this is a great, easy-to-install solution. Oh, by the way, this is constructed of steel with a black powder coat finish. So it's durable. It's not like inexpensive plastic or anything like that. So this is gonna hold up really well for you. It's a durable product. But if you happen to have any other questions, don't hesitate to reach out. We wanna make sure that you're getting exactly what you need. Well, again, my name is Andy. Thank you for joining me.

the cord that came with the tow lights is too short to reach my motorhome so I must scab on another piece with three more 4 promg flat plugs.

Hey Steve, how short on length is it? We offer extensions in various lengths, such as # TS87QR.

The light is great. Blue Ox needs to provide a longer connection wire. If you properly run the wire along the frame from the back of the vehicle to the front you will need approximately an additional 6'of wire to make the front connection.

  • How to Wire the Blue Ox Receiver Mounted Tow Light Bar
Great question, Chris! You would cut off the existing 4-flat connector from part # BLU83QV and wire in the 4-wire round plug for the Blue Ox Coiled Electrical Cord, part # 294-0805, at the front of your vehicle. Then you can connect the Roadmaster Coiled Tow Bar Power Cord, part # RM78BQ, between that new round plug and the motorhome's 7-way connector. Have you already got the Blue Ox coiled electrical cord, or are you still gathering the parts for your setup?
