Timbrens or SumoSprings For 2021 Ram 1500 Crew Cab For Helping With Sag

Updated 04/18/2021 | Published 04/16/2021

Question:

I have a 2021 Ram 1500 crew cab 4x4. I am getting quite a bit of rear sag when I hook by 21ft - 5000 lbs boat to the truck. Which would you recommend to help level out the rear of truck and also give a good ride? Timbren - TDR1500DQ SumoSpring - SSR-307-40 OR SSR-307-47 I used the timbrens on my 2019 Ram and still had a bit of sag so I am interested in knowing if the SumoSpring might keep the rear end a little more level. Thank you!

Helpful Expert Reply:

For your 2021 Ram 1500 Crew Cab, between the Timbren Rear Suspension Enhancement System # TDR1500DQ, 1,000 lb capacity SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs # SSR-307-40, and 1,500 lb SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs # SSR-307-47, the option I recommend for your Ram is the latter:

- 1,500 lb SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs # SSR-307-47

While neither will completely eliminate sag, the SumoSprings will offer the same quality as the Timbrens in terms of suspension support, but won't give you quite as harsh a ride. The reason why is the SumoSprings are a more progressive spring, so their initial engagement is lighter than the Timbrens (which - as you likely know - can sometimes be pretty jarring).

I have added links below to some video reviews for you to check out as well if you'd like to take a look.
