Suspension Enhancement For 2015 Ram 1500 With Some Sag With Weight Distribution

Updated 01/27/2026 | Published 08/18/2024

Question:

I currently have the Reese Strait-line trunnion bar weight distribution system with the 1200 bars. The system works great but when I hook up, the bars end up very close to the trunnions. Based on my calculations I should be close to 1000 of tongue weight. There is still some sag and sway, but I’m wondering if I moved up to the 1500 bars, if that would let me use a lower chain link and keep the bars away from the trunnions, as well as give me more weight distribution and more sway control?

Hey Kyle,

If your tongue weight is 1,000 lbs and you're using 1,200 lb bars then going to 1,500 lb brs isn't going to make a difference. Sometimes even with weight distribution there can be a bit a of sag and sway still. I think what would help alleviate that is going to helper spring for your 2015 Ram 1500, the SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs # SSR-307-40.

You'll want to install these and then set up your Strait-Line again after they've been installed and this will help with sway.

Hey Kyle, how did things go after adding the SumoSprings and resetting your Strait-Line setup? Your results could really help others trying to smooth out sag and sway with a similar setup.
