Question:

I have a 2015 Jetta TDI. Why wouldnt the Item # 306-X7311 fit my vehicle? There shouldnt be any differences between the gas and diesel model between the bumper and the metal skin/frame.

You are correct that bumper is the same, the issue is that behind the bumper on the passenger side of your 2016 Volkswagen Jetta TDI there are components that interfere would with the non-TDI trailer hitch receiver's like the EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - 2" # 306-X7311 when installed as you can see in the included two pictures.
