An example of sag on a vehicle's rear axle under a heavy load

Whether you're hauling heavy loads in your bed or cargo area or you're towing a trailer, you will often see the rear of your vehicle sag while the front end rises. In these cases, the rear axle is handling not only the weight of the cargo, but also more of the vehicle's weight. Because less weight is on the front axle, the front tires are making less contact with the road. Overall handling - traction, steering, and braking - is negatively affected. But the resistance from Timbren's Suspension Enhancement System works with your factory suspension to keep your vehicle level and improve your driving experience.

Diagram of the Timbren spring installed

The Timbren system comes with custom-fit brackets that are bolted onto each frame rail above the rear axle. Hollow rubber springs are bolted to the bottom of the bracket and hang down to where the bottom of the spring sits, 1" above the axle. The inch of clearance allows the existing factory suspension to operate normally under light loads and standard terrain, ensuring the smooth, comfortable ride that you are used to.

Animation of a standard Timbren rubber spring

Timbren Suspension Enhancement Systems are designed to work progressively. When the hollow rubber springs are compressed, the convoluted design causes them to quickly collapse along the folds. Once the folds are compacted, the stacked barrel shape increases resistance, stiffening the suspension and keeping your vehicle level.

Timbren suspension system works to prevent body roll

Each hollow rubber spring works independently to support the driver's side or passenger's side of your vehicle. This is helpful when you swerve or make sharp turns. Each spring is activated when it is needed, so body roll is greatly reduced. The independent action also works well when you are hauling off-center loads.

An example of a trailers swaying

Because the vehicle handles better with the springs, less turbulence will be passed along to the trailer, and this helps to keep the trailer in line. Your driving comfort is further enhanced if the trailer does begin to sway (from a gust of wind or a passing semi), because the movement from the trailer is not transferred to your vehicle. This also works to make the sway subside more quickly.

An empty truck on a bumpy road without Timbren

Another great feature of the rubber construction is that the springs absorb most of the road shock, creating a smoother, more stable ride overall when loaded. Wear and tear on the factory suspension is also lessened because the rubber springs work to prevent bottoming out on rough roads.

Timbren Suspension Enhancement Compared to the Competition

Timbren's Suspension Enhancement Systems are much easier to install than air springs - there are no air hoses to run, no compressors or gauges to hook up, and no manual adjustments to make. The rubber construction makes Timbren's springs more elastic than similar products constructed of microcellular urethane. And more elasticity allows for a more comfortable ride when loaded or towing because the rubber has more travel.

I haven't installed these yet, but they were just what I was looking for to take the "squat" out of my truck while pulling my toy hauler.
These along with my WDH should level the truck just fine.

by:

These are the hardest ride you could possibly get loaded or unloaded I would not recomend timbrens to anyone. Had to eat the cost and replace them with air bags. (Aweful product)

The supplied bolts are too short. Finding the right bolts added to time to do the install.

  • Transmission Cooler and Suspension Enhancement for a 2011 Toyota Sienna
The information on how much weight your 2011 Toyota Sienna can carry should be in the owners manual. From what I found the front wheel drive version can carry 1,325 pounds to 1,660 pounds inside the vehicle. The all wheel drive version can carry 1,190 pounds to 1,375 pounds inside the vehicle. A rough estimate based on the weights you have given is a total of around 1,400 pounds. If you have a front wheel drive model then you should be fine. But on an all wheel drive model you will have...

  • Comparing the Timbren and Air Lift Suspension Enhancement Kits for a 2008 Toyota Sienna
Both the Timbren Rear Suspension Enhancement # TTORSEN04 and the Air Lift 1000 Helper Springs # AL60732 work in conjunction with the rear coil springs of your 2008 Toyota Sienna van. The Timbren system uses 2 Aeon hollow rubber springs that fit inside the Sienna's coil spring. The rubber spring provides additional support by increasing resistance between the upper rubber spring and the lower mount that is attached to rear axle. So, when weight is added to the rear of the van, the Timbren...

  • Should I Install Air Bags Or Jounce Stopper Springs On My 2014 Toyota Sienna?
In order to improve the towing experience with your 2014 Toyota Sienna, I recommend the Air Lift 1000 Air Helper Springs for Coil Springs - Rear # AL60732. With your vehicle you likely won't be towing all the time, and this system is perfect for that because you can adjust the bags according to your load and it will not affect your unloaded ride quality. On the other hand, jounce springs like Timbren Rear Suspension Enhancement System # TTORSEN04 could possibly affect your unloaded ride...

  • Recommended Solution for Hitch Dragging Over Speed Bumps on 2016 Toyota Sienna
I have a solution for you, but the Timbren # TTORSEN04 are not going to significantly lift the rear end of your vehicle and really aren't intended for this purpose. These are designed for when you're towing a camper that has a heavier tongue weight causing sag on the rear end when it's being towed and none of the available suspension enhancements for your 2016 Toyota Sienna will provide a real significant lift you're seeking. With that said, you can use the Ultra Fab # UF48-979020 skid...

  • Helper Spring Option for 1998 Toyota Sienna
We do have a suspension enhancement solution that will work with your 1998 Toyota Sienna. I'd recommend the Firestone Coil Rite Air Helper Springs, part # F4118. The nice thing about an air system is you can tailor the firmness of the suspension to fit what you're carrying or towing. The air pressure can be adjusted from as little as 5 psi all the way up to 35 psi. Timbren doesn't offer a solution for your vehicle, but in all honesty the Air Bag solution would be a better option because...

Because you'll be towing at times, it sounds like the load on the suspension will vary from trip to trip. Because of this, I'd recommend going with the AirLift # AL60732 air helper springs. The springs install inside your existing coil springs as shown in the linked video, and can inflate from 5 to 35 psi, offering up to 1000 lbs of additional support. The adjustability is a great feature if the weight of the loads you'll be carrying will vary. None of the available options will lift the...

  • How to Reduce Sag On a 2013 Toyota Sienna When Pulling a Trailer
There are a few options to help reduce the sag on your 2013 Toyota Sienna when pulling a trailer. I recommend Air Lift AirLift 1000 Air Helper Springs for Coil Springs - Rear Item # AL60732. These are air bags that fit inside your factory coils. Instillation is fairly simple. The air spring can be adjusted to a maximum of 35 psi and a minimum of 5 psi with a load leveling capacity of 1000 lbs. You can adjust the air pressure in the bag depending on the weight to bring the back of the vehicle...

  • Recommended Suspension Enhancement for a 2011 Toyota Sienna Firestone Vs. Timbren
The Firestone Coil-Rite Air Helper Springs part # F4155 and the Timbren Rear Suspension Enhancement System part # TTORSEN04 will both do a great job of helping handle the added weight on the rear of your 2011 Toyota Sienna which will in turn decrease vehicle sag. The Timbren springs are more designed for towing as they are stiffer and provide more support than the airbags. The airbags will still give you plenty of support for your bike rack and will not sacrifice ride quality whereas...

  • Comparing the Timbrens and Air Lift Airbags for a 2014 Toyota Sienna
In order to help support the weight of the hitch mounted bike rack on your 2014 Toyota Sienna, I recommend using the Air Lift AirLift 1000 Air Helper Springs for Coil Springs part # AL60732 over the Timbren Rear Suspension Enhancement System part # TTORSEN04. The reason for this is because the Timbrens are only going to engage once the threshold of your suspension is reached. The weight of your bike rack and four bikes might not allow for this so you will want to use the Air Lift airbags...

The Air Lift 1000 Air Helper Springs for Coil Springs part # AL60732 are made of polyurethane which is both durable and long lasting. That said, they can start to break down after years of use but this can vary widely based on the environment therefore the manufacturer does not provide any sort of life expectancy. They are truly the best option for suspension enhancement as you can adjust them for the perfect mix between support and confront so I recommend replacing the old set with a new...

  • Recommended Weight Distribution/Sway Control System for 2010 Toyota Sienna
For a camper trailer towed by a passenger van like your 2010 Toyota Sienna the best handling-enhancement item is usually going to be a weight distribution/sway control system, rather than a vehicle suspension enhancement kit. Weight distribution (WD) moves some of the trailer's tongue weight (TW) forward onto the Sienna's front axle; this restores steering and braking performance and reduces rear end squat. A system with built-in sway control will also help reduce the trailer's tendency...
