Looking at purchasing a hitch and wiring for a 2004 honda pilot what is the difference between the etrailer and the curt other than the matte/gloss powder coat? They appear to have the same load capacities and overall specs.

The Curt hitch for the 2004 Honda Pilot, part # 13328, and the etrailer one, part # e98851, are almost the same. As you mentioned, the finish is the only difference between them.
The matte finish of the etrailer one helps to prevent scratches and corrosion, which is why it's the one I recommend.
