Base Plate Kit Recommendation for a 1998 Jeep Wrangler Sport Automatic and a Remco Tow Bar

Based on my research, your Remco tow bar should be compatible with all Blue Ox base plates, so for your 1998 Jeep Wrangler Sport, I would recommend the Blue Ox Base Plate Kit, # BX1118. I would also recommend verifying that your tow bar is compatible with Blue Ox base plates. This base plate kit is compatible with the U-channel or double tube bumper.
Before you install a base plate kit, I recommend checking your vehicle owners manual for flat tow compatibility. There may be certain restrictions or limitations for towing your Jeep.
If you find that you can flat tow your Jeep, then you may be interested in a few other items such as tow bar wiring, safety cables and a supplemental braking system to complete your flat tow set up.
For a wiring kit, I recommend the Hopkins Custom Wiring Kit, # HM56202. This kit plugs into your vehicles tail light assemblies to provide the tail light functions for the towed vehicle. There are many different tow bar wiring options for your Jeep, so I attached a link to all of the options as well as an FAQ article on tow bar wiring. The FAQ article will explain the different options that you have available.
For safety cables, I recommend the Blue Ox Safety Cables, # BX88197.
Finally, you will want to look into a supplemental braking system. Most states now require the use of a braking system in towed vehicles. For your Jeep, I recommend the Blue Ox Patriot, # BLU37TR. This is a proportional braking system that is easy to set up and use and includes remote controller that gives you a manual override options and alerts you if there are any potential problems with the towed vehicle braking. John S. thanks for the info. Would I be able to find a part number on the tow bar to ensure that it will fit the Blue Ox BX1118 base plate. Or is there a way to look at it and know if it will work before I order it.
