This base plate is made to handle long-distance flat towing without putting strain on your suspension. The sturdy steel design spreads the towing force evenly across the chassis, keeping the front end stable mile after mile. It bolts directly to the frame and doesn’t need any welding, so it stays solid and dependable on every trip.
If you prefer a setup that doesn’t stick out, this design keeps things neat. The low-profile reinforcements blend into the front bumper for a streamlined look when you’re not towing, so there’s no bulky hardware catching your eye. The crossbar support beam sits close to the vehicle’s lines while still offering the strength needed for heavy-duty towing.
You can hook up straight to any Blue Ox tow bar—no adapters required. If you’re using Roadmaster or Demco gear, it adapts easily with add-on brackets (RM-031, RM-031-5, or DM9523041, sold separately). The bracket spacing is 24" center-to-center with a 17-3/4" bracket height, making it easy to match up with your existing towing equipment.
Everything you need comes in the box for a simple bolt-on install. The included mounting hardware secures to existing chassis points without welding, making it a job most DIYers can tackle with basic tools. Once it’s installed, hooking up your tow bar is quick work—perfect for getting on the road sooner and towing with confidence.

Where the pins go in front ,the holes are off
this fit perfectly. Installed really easy. I pulled my jeep around 2,000 miles this year with it with no problems. The hardest this to do is bend the wires the nuts are on to get to where you need them. Following the directions and a friend's help and it can be installed in an hour. Since I offroad my jeep I was worried about losing some approach and I did but not a whole lot.

Install was pretty straightforward. Turned out good. Quality product.
Tow bar is phenomenal. It takes about 7 minutes to install it, the safety cables, ambilocal chord, and brake safety cable. Add 3 more minutes for light and brake inspection in the jeep being towed. 10 minutes and you are ready to depart. The combination of the tow bar and vacuum braking system are incredible.

Good base plate, but not the one that I was describing when I thought I was buying the quick disconnect connection area to the blue ox Tobar, but will still work
The base plate was built with quality craftsmanship. Receiving it took about 6 weeks. However it was not a direct bolt on for my 2006 Jeep Wrangler Sport. The left side (drivers side) bolted up using the existing power steering mounting bolts but the right side required redrilling 4 mounting holes. 2 through the frame horizontally and 2 vertically through the base plate and frame to follow the manufacturer’s suggested mounting recommendations. I was well equipped to carry out this task but I don’t think the average DIY warrior will find it as easy as the “direct bolt on”they were hoping for. Once bolted on the unit met all of my expactions.
Ordering was simple. Fast delivery. Instructions were easy to follow and install was quick. Perfect fit and solid build.

I have towed my 2005 Jeep LJ over 10,000 miles this year and never had an issue with the Blue Ox base plates. I would buy them again

Very well made. A little effort to install but great instructions. Towed for over 5 thousand miles no problems
Arrived very quickly. This item has some weight to it and installed exactly per the instructions. You can hardly see the base plate. I feel that we made a great purchase and the Jeep will travel very safely behind the motorhome!
The BX1120 was easy to install on my 1998 Jeep Wrangler. The part fit the Jeep like a glove. The instructions given were easy to follow. I don't own a torque wrench, but lucky for me my neighbor races cars and he had one I was able to borrow.
The BX1120 construction is top-notch, well crafted, and looks nice on my Jeep.
All my questions before my purchase were answered in a timely manner making me feel confident in my purchase.

I had a simple ball hitch setup for my 1999 Jeep Wrangler for towing behind our RV. Our first trip out with it, the bolts that attached the bar connectors to the front of the Jeep came loose. I was fortunate that they didn't come out completely and cause a major accident. I was able to tighten them again, and we had no additional issues on our trip. Of course, this made me extremely nervous with my 'budget' route to tow the Jeep so I began looking for a better, more reliable solution.
Blue Ox was the name that kept coming up so I purchased the BX1120. The build quality is outstanding, it's extremely solid and very durable. Installation time was about an hour and a half once I had the right tools, couldn't find my 1/2 inch socket set! I'm using the Blue Ox Alpha tow bar with this setup.
I will say that having a second set of hands to install is valuable, my son had to come help me get the drivers side bolts in while I held the steering housing in place.
All in all, I'm very pleased with the product. It went in easy and should save my nerves on our next road trip!
1999 Jeep Wrangler Sport
After market front bumper (Plenty of clearance with this specific mount)
1 year later, it’s been used for over 1500 miles and held up great. I did the install and had a weld shop tax the bolts do they wouldn’t back out.
Very simple to install, just need to drill a few holes in the frame. Comes with everything you need except a couple basic washers (mine came with 3 lock washers and 2 standard flats for 4 bolts)…
Would be nice to have the torque specs also in the instructions but the busted bolt is on me!
Perfect fit, well built of high quality materials. In my mind you just can't get much better than Blue Ox. The only issue is that the BX1120 doesn't have removable twist lock tabs. The fixed draw bar mounting tabs are at just the right height and position to play havoc with your shins when the draw bar is not installed. I solved that problem with a shin guard I made of 2 inch schedule 40 PVC. (see photo) Fits perfectly, guards the breakaway switch and lighting connector when not in use, and solves the shin interference problem.

After a year of occasional use I am still very happy with the BX1120 baseplate. Its a joy to use high quality products from a high quality supplier. Ive always gotten the highest quality support from the folks at Etrailer. Thanks folks.

Not a bad install the nuts on the end of the wires was a little strange and odd to use and bend….. worked out great haven’t towed it yet ….bolted in and ready. There’s not really any place on thes 06 Wrangler to put those safety cables to the frame. Alex T in sales was great.
