Question:
Hi folks, Im looking to replace my straight trailer coupler for 3 inch channel and 2.5 inch mounting hole spacing with a 1 7/8 inch ball. However, I can not find any replacements with these dimensions. First alternative could be to move to a 2 inch ball. Otherwise it seems like I will have to drill new holes on the trailer. Any suggestions? Thanks

The typical center to center hole distance is around 3 inches, much like the hole spacing of the # F222000301 Fulton coupler you'd looked at. If you're speaking of the distance between the inner edges of the holes, and not the center to center spacing, the holes have a gap of about 2-1/2 inches between them. If you don't mind going with a 2 inch ball, this might be a good choice for you.
If you'd prefer to stay with a 1-7/8 inch ball, you could use the etrailer brand # CT-2003-Z, but you'd need to slot the holes by about a 1/4 of an inch, as the center to center mounting hole spacing is about 2-1/4 inches. If I were in your shoes, that's the route I'd take, as slotting one set of the mounting holes int he trailer tongue wouldn't cause any harm.
I've linked to product description videos for the Fulton and the etrailer brand couplers mentioned above.
