Video Transcript for Review of Trailer Valet Straight Tongue Trailer Coupler - Channel Tongue Trailer Coupler - TV47ZR

Hi everybody, Andy here with etrailer. Let's take a quick look at this Trailer Valet Channel Tongue Trailer Coupler. Now this trailer coupler is designed for standard light duty trailers and it's made to fit any standard two inch hitch ball. And I just wanted to give you a quick instance here of how you can couple this. So this has this trigger style latch. It's going to securely lock the coupler onto that two inch hitch ball.

I do have one of those right here. So you'll just drop that on and then you'll just close this latch like so. Of course this would obviously be a little bit easier when you have this bolted onto your tongue. There we go. And as you can see, that's going to latch securely.

Just lock that into place right there. And then you can actually run a lock through here just to get that extra bit of security. And then when you're ready to uncouple, you'll just push that trigger up and pull that lever up and then that'll allow you to uncouple just like that. So this is rated to handle trailers up to 3,500 pounds, making this a pretty good choice for utility trailers, small campers, landscape trailers and other light duty applications. Installation's going to be pretty straightforward because this is going to bolt directly onto your straight trailer tongue to use a 2-1/2" channel.

So no welding is going to be required. And to help this last over time, this coupler features a durable powder coated finish. It's going to help resist rust and corrosion. It's going to protect it from rain, road salt, and everyday road debris. Overall, it's going to be a reliable, easy to install coupler.

It's going to give you secure towing, broad compatibility and long lasting durability for most light duty trailer needs. I'm just giving you some rough measurements here. Looking at what I'm going to call the length here, just rough measurement here, end to end, about 11 inches, maybe slightly under. The overall width, again, just end to end. Let me put this upside down at the widest point here. Might be a little bit easier. About four and a half inches. And I, as I mentioned, this is going to mount to your 2-1/2" trailer tongue. And then the height, including our latch. Oh about four and a quarter inches or so, four and a quarter to four and a half inches. So just want to give you an idea of the size. This does not include any mounting hardware so that's something that you would have to supply yourself. I can't remember if I gave you the mounting hole measurement on center, pretty close to three inches. If you'd think you might need some help with getting this installed though, on this product page, we have a link typically found underneath the photo section. Click that link, answer the questions that it has for you and that link will take you to our installer locator. That locator will find an installer in your area that etrailer has partnered with to get this mounted for you. Well, again, my name is Andy, thank you for joining me.

  • Is It Ok To Remove 9" From A Trailer Tongue When Replacing A Coupler?
Hi Ed! Losing 9" off the front of your trailer is a bummer, but there is no reason you couldn't. That said, you will definitely want to keep an eye on how the tongue weight changes after doing so and how your turning radius changes as well. I don't think being 9" shorter is going to mess with anything too terribly much, just be aware of it the first couple time you tow. Now to get the coupler, the Trailer Valet Channel Tongue Trailer Coupler - Trigger Latch - 2" Ball - Bolt On - 3,500...
