Question:
I am looking to put a hitch on my 1999 chevrolet s10 extreme stepside and I dont know which hitch is going to work with the factory ground effects and non towing bumper. I am not looking for heavy hauling just enough to haul my small trailer behind when I move from base to base throughout my military career. Please help me to figure this out.

I spoke with my contact at Draw-Tite, who tells me that the Class III # 75085 receiver will fit the 1999 S-10 Sportside with the non-towing bumper. He did not have any information regarding fit on the Extreme model, which means that some trimming of the fascia under the bumper might need to be done in order for the hitch to fit.
Take a look at the diagram I captured from the install instructions. If you measure 8 inches downward from the frame hole shown, it will give you a pretty accurate idea of where the top of the receiver will land. You can use a straight edge held at 8 inches below that hole (like a yardstick), which should give you a good idea of where the receiver opening would sit in relation to the fascia under the bumper.
I have linked you to the installation instructions for the # 75085 hitch.
