Get More Out of Every Trip: Class III Strength for Towing and Hauling

This Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver gives you the solid performance you need for towing small trailers or loading up cargo carriers and bike racks. With a 2" x 2" receiver opening, it’s built to handle up to 4,000 lbs gross trailer weight and 400 lbs tongue weight. When using weight distribution, it can take on up to 6,000 lbs GTW and 600 lbs TW. That means you can trust it for regular towing or carrying those heavier accessories without worrying about stability or safety.

Do the Job Once: Fully Welded Steel Built for Long-Term Use

The precision, robotic welding on this hitch maximizes its strength and ensures a perfect fit. The glossy black powder coat finish layered over a protective base coat gives it excellent rust resistance, so it holds up against weather and road grime year after year. Its round-tube design also keeps things looking clean under the bumper while still delivering heavy-duty performance that feels secure every time you hook up your gear.

Install It Yourself in the Driveway: Bolt-On Design with Included Hardware

No drilling, no welding—just bolt it straight onto the frame using the included hardware kit. The hitch is designed as a custom fit for your vehicle’s frame, so alignment is spot-on and installation is straightforward whether you’re working in your garage or driveway. Everything you need to mount it securely comes in the box, so you can get it done with standard tools and be ready to tow in no time.

Product was delivered on the day promised. The hitch fit the old S-10 perfectly. I had the bumper already off and the bolts out. Hitch installed in 10 minutes. Hopkins light kit installed in one minute. Electric impact wrench really helps on breaking the old bolts loose and tightening up the new ones. Five stars in every category.

by:

Quick shipping packages good no scratches at all all hardware included needed to mount to vehicle installation instructions included as well as a step by step video online over all a great buy took me less than 45 minutes from start to towing !

by:

It fit very well, well made, strong. The connections for electrical were straight forward and plugged right into my truck. No splicing, or cutting. I love it, I would recommend this product to anyone in need of a hitch

by:

Great fit, smooth installation with no hassles.
Only
one issue with the installation being that one of the bolts/nuts stripped when torquing to the required specifications.

I used my hitch to haul my own trailer from Minnesota to Tennessee, fully loaded and then returned and hauled a UHaul trailer, also fully loaded to Tennessee with no issues at all. Great product and perfect fitment. Thanks

by:

great hitch, fits great. Got this hitch for my 2003 sonoma pick up. Needed a better hitch to tow my pontoon boat. Now have 2 draw bars, one 2" ball for one trailer and 1 7/8" for other trailer . Don't have to keep changing the ball.

by:

The Curt receivers I purchased for my 94 S10 and my 2020 Kia Sportage only took about 30 min each to install and both fit perfectly. The wiring harness for the Kia took about 90 minutes to install only because of all the internal plastic paneling that must be removed to run the harness. The S10 harness took 5 minutes to install. Great products and fast shipping.

by:

This hitch has been great. Installation went easier than expected. I have pulled trailers many many times and have also used a receiver mounted carrier rack in it. I’m so glad I purchased this.

by:

Great fit and finish, install was easy enough. One issue seems to be the receiver is under the bumper a few inches so an extension will be needed for a lot of hitches. It does look nice recessed back and it let’s you still use a ball in the bumper if for some reason you want to do that.

by:

The install was fairly easy. I sprayed the bolts with penetrating oil a week before the install and they came off easily. The only issue was that the width of the trailer hitch was 1/2" to narrow ( it must have moved while it was being welded) so I had to use a rubber mallet to widen the hitch. After that every thing went smoothly. There were a few scuffs on the hitch when it arrived.

by:

Hitch came in slightly narrow in width. At first i thought it was made wrong. After a little thinking time I realized it was bumped in shipment. I called etrailer and they told me it was the right hitch. I used a little effort to spring it open an it was and easy effort to install it. I am well please with price, quality and service.
Thank You etrailer

Product was as stated and worked perfectly fine.
I'm very happy with the trailer hitch.

I works great! I have had no problems what so ever. Great product.

by:

Very sturdy. Took me a lot longer than 45 min to install but pretty simple. Mine was about 1/8 inch short but would slide in with some persuasion and the snug fit made the alignment easy. I have had the square Draw Tight hitches before and I much prefer the look of this tubular design.

No problems tows well and even heavy loads dont loosen the hitch

My truck is 1999 Chevy S-10 Long bed. This may apply to other S-10 pickups.

You don't have to drill the hitch. You do have to drill the frame and bumper brackets. The supplied bolts are 1/2 inch grade 8 bolts. The original bolts holding on the bumper are 12mm. The 1/2 inch bolts will not go through the original bumper and frame holes without drilling them out to 1/2 inch. If the description has said this, my review would have been a 5 star review.

I took them at their word and went to a public garage to install the hitch (it was a cold and I don't have a garage). When the bolts did not fit, I had to put my truck back together and go home for a drill. Then go back to the garage to complete the installation.

Other than the minor glitch above, the install was painless and looks great.

You mentioned that you needed to drill and I wanted to ask you a few questions. How many of the holes did you need to drill? Can you confirm that you have a factory step bumper verus a roll pan bumper?

I have the original factory step bumper. The website clearly said the hitch I ordered will NOT work with a roll pan bumper. Yes, I read the whole listing. I did not know what a roll pan bumper was, so I had to google it. I had to drill out 12 holes total. Three holes in each bumper bracket and three in each frame rail. Two bumper brackets and two frame rails. The original bolts were metric 12 millimeter. The Grade 8 bolts that are provided with the hitch are one half inch bolts. 0.5 inches is equal to 12.7 millimeters. They would not fit through the holes for the original bolts. Each hole in the bumper brackets and the frame rails had to be drilled out. Drilling the holes out was easy. Not having a drill with me was a problem because the website said NO DRILLING needed. I was not prepared. It was a cold day, so I went to a Public Parking Garage and did the installation in the basement level to be out of the wind. If I knew I needed a drill and had taken one with me, it would have been 5 more minutes. I had to put my truck back together, go home and get a drill and come back to the garage. This added an hour to the install. I am not upset about this and it will not keep me from buying from etrailer again. If you want a 5-star review, then your instructions need to be accurate. If you want a picture of the install, let me know and I will send you one.

I will send this information to the manufacturer for review. This is the first time that we have had a 1999 Chevy S-10 pickup with the factory bumper have bigger hole locations then one half inches.

I bought Curt hitch for my GMC Sonoma a year ago. Installation was a breeze. I have towed my boat and some construction without a problem. Great product.

by:

Love the look! Very discreet. Did have to use scissor jack and a block of wood to spread apart the hitch. Width was exactly what was advertised, but the frame rails on my 2001 Sonoma were 1/4 inch too wide. But, it worked out great.

by:

Looks great, nearly hidden and very low-profile. Went on easily, installed myself in about 45 minutes. I used a milk crate on a small furniture dolly to move the bumper out of the way and hold it up so I could align the hitch and bumper bracket holes and bolt them up. Did I say PERFECT fit, first try! Thanks again, eTrailer !! Now this one-owner, low mileage pickup's 4.3L Vortec and 4L60-E can be used as intended--to haul some serious trailer weight (truck is rated to tow 5900 lb. with weight distribution). The new hitch will also serve as a bike carrier platform when not pulling trailers around.

**Update: One year later: Zero issues with this simple, install-and-forget-its-there hitch! Now a permanent part of the rear bumper and cant imagine the truck without this truck-necessity!

See what our Experts say about this CURT Trailer Hitch

  • Trailer Hitch Fit for 1998 Chevy S-10 Truck
The correct hitch will depend on which bumper your S-10 is equipped with. For a factory step bumper, I'd recommend the Curt # C13132. For a roll pan bumper, you'll want to use # 13920, but you'll need to cut a hole in the license plate well and find an old-school hinged license plate holder online or from a salvage yard. If you have a short bed truck, the # 13920 hitch will prevent the spare tire from being stowed under the vehicle.

  • Concealed vs. Visible Crosstube for 1999 Chevy S-10 With Factory Step Bumper
On a trailer hitch receiver, concealed means the crosstube does not show at the rear of the truck, just the receiver does; while exposed means the crosstube and the receiver show. A lot of people really like the concealed crosstube because it keeps the look of their truck intact, but that's the only difference. For your 1999 Chevy S-10 with a factory step bumper you can choose from a hitch with either a concealed or visible crosstube, but if it were me, I'd go with the concealed option: -...

  • Will A Trailer Hitch From A 2002 Chev S-10 Fit A 2003 GMC Sonoma?
Your 2003 GMC Sonoma and a 2002 Chevrolet S-10 do indeed use the same trailer hitch receivers due to them having the same trailer hitch mounting locations, but you will need to make sure the hitch matches the options of your truck. What I mean is there is trailer hitches that only fit if you have the factory step bumper like the Curt Trailer Hitch # C13132, where others like the Draw-Tite # 75085 fit the trucks with a factory step bumper, Sportside with non-towing bumper, and the ZR2 models. • How to Determine Which Trailer Hitch Receiver Will Fit 2003 Chevrolet S-10 with Aftermarket Bumper
To determine if a trailer hitch receiver will fit on your 2003 Chevrolet S-10 that has an aftermarket bumper you'll have to do a little measuring. There are three Curt Class III trailer hitch receivers that may work for you. You'll need to measure from the mounting holes on your truck's frame to the underside of the bumper to see if there is enough clearance. The measurements of each hitch that you will at least need are: # 13920 - 2.353 inches # C13132- 8.32 inches # C13021- 10.20...

  • Hitch Fit for 1987 Chevy S-10 With Factory Step Bumper
Curt hitch # C13132 is a confirmed fit for your 1987 Chevy S-10 with a factory step bumper and it will not require you to drill any holes; the hitch simply bolts on. There will be no issues as far as the spare tire is concerned, it will be able to stay mounted underneath the truck. The recommended wiring to add a 4-flat connector to your '87 S-10 is # HM41115.

  • Trailer Hitch Receiver Compatible With 1992 GMC Sonoma Short Bed
The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" # C13132 will fit your 1992 GMC Sonoma truck as long as you have a factory step bumper. It will require temporary removal of the rear bumper during installation. It is not a fit for a roll pan bumper. If you have a roll pan bumper, you will need to use the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" # 13920. This will require a relocation of the spare tire in short bed models as well as cutting the rollpan...
