Can Ball Mount be Used Upside Down to Use in Rise Position
Updated 08/28/2018 | Published 08/27/2018 >
Question:
I flipped my ball mount upside down to gain height on my trailer. The trailer is a 6x10 cargo that i converted into a camper, its maybe 2500lbs. The mount is one i picked up at walmart. Will this affect how it pulls or better yet compromise the integrity of the hitch? Im pulling it with a 99 ford expedition. Thanks

A great majority of standard ball mounts are designed so that they can be used in either the drop or rise position. Using a ball mount like the Draw-Tite # 2753 that you were looking at in the rise position is just a matter of turning it upside down like what you mentioned. This does not typically have any effect on the weight capacity or integrity of the ball mount.
With that being said, it's hard for me to say for certain that this is the case with your particular ball mount without knowing what you have. If you can tell me the manufacturer and part number of the ball mount you are using, I will be happy to confirm that it can be used in the rise position like you are doing without any adverse effects.
