Question:
Im looking for a wiring harness for my vehicle. When I look up the VIN from Toyota it says I have the towing package, but there is no hitch so I am going to buy a hitch but I am confused at to what wiring package I need?

We really dislike the term 'tow package' here at the etrailer.com World Headquarters, because the term basically has no meaning. In most folk's mind, saying something has the tow package would indicate the the vehicle rolled out of the factory and was completely equipped to tow which would be the case in a perfect world. But alas, that's not the case.
In terms of which 4-pole trailer connector harness you need for your Highlander, there's a super-easy way to tell. Pull out the cargo tray in the cargo area as shown in the linked video. right under where the threshold sits, there are two white plugs, a larger one and a smaller one. If nothing is plugged into the larger one, you'll need the # C56217. If there IS a black box plugged into that connector, use # 56042.
I've linked to the installation video for you, which shows how to access the connectors I spoke of.
If you haven't yet decided on a hitch, I'd recommend the Curt # C13394 because of it's mostly-concealed appearance once installed. For a ball mount, I'd recommend the Curt # C93KR along with the # PC3 hitch pin. For a 1-7/8 ball, use # 19260 or # 63845 for a 2 inch ball.
I've also linked to an install video for the hitch I recommended.
