Updated 07/29/2025 | Published 08/19/2020

Question:

I’m replacing the hubs on an old Starcraft pop up. I’m not sure of the axle capacity. Old inner barring number is- LM48548. Outer is LM44649. The new wheels will be 15” 5 lug 5x4.5. Can you help me find the right hub size Thanks

I may have a solution for you, but we do not have any hubs that are compatible with the # LM48548 inner bearing that you've currently got in your hubs. Additionally the # 84556UC3 is not going to fit your spindle because the # L68149 outer bearing it contains is going to be slightly too big.

You could continue to use your old hubs and simply replace the bearings with the # LM48548 and # L44649. For the races, you'll want # Replacement Race for LM48548 Bearing # LM48510 and # L44610 and for the grease seals you'll need Grease Seal - Double Lip - ID 1.719" / OD 2.565" - for 3,500-lb Axles - Qty 2 # RG06-050.

It wouldn't let you switch to new wheels with a different bolt pattern, but using these parts would at least allow to replace the internal components of your hubs and get the trailer back up and running. If you wanted to go with new wheels, just let me know what the existing bolt pattern is and I can help you locate a good replacement set!

@Ben it sounds like you have an obsolete bearing combination, or possibly some kind of agricultural hub. We do not carry anything that matches that bearing combination. If you are unable to find a replacement you will need to swap out the axle for one with a spindle that uses a modern bearing combination.
