Video Transcript for The Low-Down on the U-Bolt Kit for Mounting 5,200-lb to 7,000-lb, Round Trailer Axles

Today we'll be reviewing Part Number APUBR-9. This is Red Line U-Bolt Kit for mounting 5200 lbs to 7000 lbs round trailer axles. It's going to attach the trailer axle to your leaf springs, it's going to include four 7 1/4 U-bolts, 2 U-bolt plates for 1 3/4 inch or 2 inch springs, and then it's going to include eight 9/16 inch hex nuts. Spring seats are required for mounting the axle to the leaf springs and that's all going to be sold separately. It's going to fix axle diameters of 3 inches, typically 5200 lb to 7000 lb trailer axles. The spring width that this would fit is going to be 1 3/4 inch or 2 inch and we'll just take a few moments to go over some dimensions. We take a measurement of the length of the u-bolt, again we're measuring from the bottom of the cross member, to the base of the bolt post.

It's going to give us a measurement of 7 1/4. The threaded portion on each bolt is going to measure 3 inches. It's that portion there and then the width that we have in between is going to measure right at 3 inches and that's just a measurement between the bolt posts. Taking a look at one of the plates, it's going to measure 5 1/4 by 3 3/4. We measure the distance, center on center between the holes going this direction, it's going to measure 3 3/4 of an inch and then center on center going this direction is going to give us a measurement of 2 5/8 of an inch. That's going to do it for our look at Part Number APUBR-9, this is Red Line U-Bolt Kit for mounting round trailer axles and again the bolts are going to measure 7 1/4 of an inch in length.

  • Do Roadmaster Comfort Ride Leaf Springs Require New Bushings
Hey Dave! The Roadmaster Comfort Ride Leaf Spring # RM-2460-2570 comes with bushings. The only thing you will need is the existing bolts from your trailer. Some people do decide to go ahead and swap their existing bolts out for wet bolts # 34007-187-00 if you don't already have them. What kind of trailer do you have? As long as you have a 3" diameter axles this kit will work for you.

  • Replacement Leaf Springs for 2017 Grand Design Imagine 2600RB
Thank you for providing that information. Leaf springs like the ones you have now typically match the axle capacity on your trailer. Although adding leaf springs with a slightly higher capacity won't hurt, it also is not necessary. Based on the leaf springs and and other information I'm sure you have 3,500 lb axles. Your standard diameter for this capacity would be 2-3/8". In addition to the capacity you want the eye to eye length to match, so we are looking at 25-1/4" long leaf springs. I...

  • Dexter EZ Flex Equalizers for 6,000 Pound Axles on a 2006 Heartland Bighorn 5th Wheel
The length is good on the EZ Flex system # K71-653-00 but the height may be different depending on where you are measuring that 4-3/4 inches. On the EZ Flex the distance from the center of the mounting hole to the center line between the 2 bottom holes, straight up and down, is 2-7/8 inches. If your 4-3/4 inch measurement is diagonal then you will be good to go with this kit. For a u-bolt kit you can use # APUBR-9. The shocks might actually feel more effective with the EZ Flex kit installed....

It depends on what u-bolts you are using. The torque specs for 9/16" diameter u-bolts like the U-Bolt Kit for Mounting 5,200 lbs to 7,000 lbs, Round Trailer Axles item # APUBR-9 will be a range, from 65 ft lbs to 95 ft lbs. If the tie-plates start to bend inside this range that would be definitely be a stopping point.

  • Upgraded Suspension Parts for 5th Wheel Triple Axle 5200 Pound Axles on 2006 Eclipse Attitude 33aks
Hello Ken. For upgrading your suspension on your 2006 Eclipse Attitude 33aks I recommend starting with the MORryde Suspension Upgrade Kit for Triple Axle Trailers - 3-1/8" Long Shackle Straps # MR26ZR. There isn't a data base that I can reference because there isn't an industry standard when they are putting the 5th wheels together, with that being said you are going to want to double check the measurements on your current shackle straps that they are 3 1/8" from center hole to center...

  • What is Length Measurement of 7-Leaf Double-Eye Spring DX74XR
I checked directly with Dexter, and from what I saw they have a measurement - taken from center of spring eye to center of spring eye - of 24.8", which is the same as our 24-7/8" measurement for the 7-Leaf Double-Eye Spring for 8,000-lb Trailer Axles # DX74XR. The only reference to 25.25" I saw was from a different retailer, and maybe they were talking about the overall length, but it is not the correct center eye to center eye length. As for the U-bolts, yes, a 7k Dexter axle and the...

  • Recommended Roadmaster Comfort Ride For A 2022 Vanleigh Beacon 5th Wheel With 8K 3" Axles
Since you have 8K 3" axles you'll just need the Roadmaster Comfort Ride Leaf Spring Suspension Kit w/ Shocks - Tandem 8K, 3" Trailer Axles # RM-2460-2580. The 3-1/2" requirement you were getting with the # RM-2470-2580 was simply because of the shock kit. I do recommend replacing your U-Bolts as well though with ones like # APUBR-9 as these get stretched and worn out after being torqued down and could potentially cause an issue down the road. These U-Bolts fit a 3" axle with 1-3/4" or...

  • How to Determine Correct Replacement Slipper Springs
In order to find the correct replacement slipper spring you will need the length, width, and the capacity. The leaf count does not indicate capacity and is not important when determining a replacement. This information would also make a difference in the mounting hardware. For example, the 4-Leaf Slipper Spring w/ Open Eye End # e24SR is 27" long, 1-3/4" wide, and designed for 4,300 lb axles. Assuming a single axle, you could use the # APS3SE and # APUBR-1 (this is for a 2-3/8" diameter...

  • Will the 8K Roadmaster Comfort Ride Leaf Spring Suspension Kit Work With 7K Axles
The Roadmaster Comfort Ride Leaf Spring Suspension Kit part # RM-2460-2580 will indeed work on 7,000 lb axles. The leaf springs would just be slightly overrated for what you need but there will be no problems with compatibility. It does require that you un-bolt the u-bolts so we recommend replacing them at this time using the U-Bolt Kit part # APUBR-9.

  • How to Determine Correct Replacement Leaf Springs for 7,000 lb Axle
I can give you some guidance on how to determine the correct replacement leaf springs, and you are right that replacing all four of them at the same time is a good idea. What you'll need to do for double-eye springs (which is what I assume is on your 2017 Keystone Fuzion) is measure from the center of one eye to the center of the other eye and get a match as close as you can. Just take into account that the springs may have elongated a bit over time. For example, the only double eye spring...

The 7,000 lb double-eye leaf spring we have that is closest to 26" is the 24-7/8" long 6-Leaf Double-Eye Spring for 7,000-lb Trailer Axles # e64SR. Assuming yours have flattened a good amount (which will definitely be true if the trailer is older), these will work out as a good replacement. You mentioned hardware, and I'm assuming you were referring to U-bolts, shackle bolts and straps. You'll need to measure your shackle straps but you can use the following: - U-Bolt Kit # APUBR-9 -...

  • Hanger Kit Recommendation for a 6K Axle on a Tandem Trailer
There are two spring options that would work for you, the part # e46SR that you referenced or the 5 Leaf Spring part # e34SR. The only difference is that the # e34SR is a multi-leaf spring with a 100 lbs more capacity than the # SP-115275. Either would work fine for you, I would go with the # e34SR just because of the additional capacity, and with a multi-leaf spring if a leaf fails your trailer wouldn't be completely un-usable. You would be able to limp home to fix the trailer. The Tandem-Axle...

On an axle like the Dexter Trailer Axle w/ Electric Brakes # 35545E-ST-89 the maximum overall overhang(hub face to spring center distance) is 18" total. That will put your current axle 2" past the maximum with having an 89" hub face and 69" spring center. A 5,200lb Axle # e75SR will only allow for a 19" overall overhang, so you will need to move to a 6,000lb Axle # e65SR as it allows for a 20" overall overhang. This will require you to move to the 6 lug wheels. With the MORryde 14-3/4"...

Hello Ken. I am not sure exactly how long your current U-bolts are, but you will probably be able to re use them. It just depends on how long they are and how much thread is left. Assuming your 4 leaf spring has 3/8" thick leaves it would be 1.5" thick. The # e94SR 6 leaf spring is 2.25" thick so as long as you have another 1" or so of threads left on the current U-bolts they can definitely be re-used.
