For your 2018 Toyota Highlander I recommend the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118449. This will give you a converter box behind the rear interior trim panel and a 4-way flat trailer connector in that similar location. Tekonsha converter boxes are the most reliable of the wiring harness manufacturers. I've attached a video of this installation to assist.

If you prefer a 7-way trailer connector, then I recommend the Tekonsha OEM Replacement Vehicle Wiring Harness w Brake Controller Adapter # 22119. This will give you the 7-way at your bumper to allow for towing a trailer with brakes and also give you the connector for a brake controller to be added like # 90195. This controller is a customer favorite because of the LCD screen and diagnostics. You will also want a mounting bracket for your 7-way like # PK12711U.
