Features to know about

Smooths Out the Ride: ShockDrop Technology Absorbs Bumps

Towing can get rough when every bump and pothole transfers straight through the hitch. The Curt RockerBall with ShockDrop technology uses cushioned isolators around a flexible polyurethane core to soak up vibration and jolts before they reach your truck or trailer. It reduces shock loads during braking or acceleration and keeps everything steady for a smoother, quieter ride.

Keeps Noise Down: Anti-Rattle Kit Included

Nothing’s more annoying than hearing your hitch rattle on every stretch of road. This kit includes an anti-rattle pin and bracket that tighten the connection between the 2" shank and receiver, cutting down vibration and preventing sway. The result is a quiet, solid feel when you’re towing—no extra movement or clanking behind you.

Built to Last: Forged Steel with Corrosion-Resistant Finishes

The ball mount and base are constructed from high-strength forged steel for dependable towing power. A durable black carbide powder coat protects the mount, while the chrome-plated 2" ball resists rust and wear. It’s tested to meet SAE J684 safety standards and holds strong with a 7,500-lb gross towing weight rating and 750-lb tongue weight capacity.

Levels Your Trailer Right: 3" Drop or 2" Rise

Keeping your trailer level helps it track straight and handle better on the road. This mount provides a 3" drop or 2" rise, letting you dial in the right height for your setup. The overall length measures 8-1/4" from the center of the hitch pin hole to the center of the ball hole, giving you enough clearance for easy hookup.

Low Maintenance and Easy to Service: Grease Zerk for Quick Lubrication

The RockerBall’s built-in zerk fitting makes it simple to lubricate the isolator core whenever needed. There are no airbags or bearings to maintain, so it stays virtually maintenance-free while staying smooth and quiet over time.

Great

Very good quality and fast delivery.

by:

Took an extra day to get it, but everything came in as promised and in one piece!

Another satisfying transaction =)

by:

Nice solid piece with weight. The only issue I have is that the ball is only secured down with a bolt and not lockable to prevent theft.

by:

Heavy-duty hitch! Customer service in finding the right one at etrailor was excellent!

by:

Works great!! No thumping on starts and starts. Excellent service too!

Somewhat disappointed in Curt with this product and I have always been a big Curt fan. The first one of these I ordered was the listed 3" drop unit. The base of the rocker ball is almost 1 7/8" tall so on a 4 inch drop ball mount its really only a 2 inch drop hitch so be aware when ordering. I had to send the first back and reorder the larger drop unit. When I received the larger drop unit I put it in the receiver like many other hitches I have used and proceeded to properly torque the ball down. Because the rocker ball has a pivot point its very important that it stay parallel to the receiver. Curt includes a sheet metal plate that shims in between the ball mount and the ball to prevent it from turning. The plate is no where near strong enough though and at 224 ft/lb the plate bent and the ball rotated. After the plate is bent it is almost impossible to get he thing torqued down right and lined up.

by:

Works great. Eliminates the rattle.

by:

Ball is not mounted. Pictures and videos show ball mounted. And when I have bought a “kit” in the past, the ball was mounted.
I can’t attach the ball myself and only reason I purchased from eTrailer was that pictures implied that the ball would be mounted.

Nice hitch
NO RATTLING when pulling

Great product!

So I’ve been wanting the rocker ball for a while now and I’ve finally bought it. I bought the kit and it comes with a regular curt hitch, anti rattle kit, and the Rocker Ball. Construction seems solid on all Items. The hitch did arrived with a small area the size of half a penny of the powder coating chipped. I think it might’ve occurred during transit. Installation is fast BUT and a big BUT is very difficult to keep the rocker ball aligned to the hitch while you are torquing the nut. Mine ended up being noticeable sideways when I finished torquing it. I had to try it a couple of times and even then I couldn’t torque it all the way without 1. The rockerball assembly going sideways and 2. Without the tabs on the metal bracket bending.( one corner did bend. Anyways seems like a good product and if you don’t care of the Rockerball not being sorta aligned ( I honestly think that it shouldn’t be of fwhen fully tightened because then the rocker ball is not going to move straight back and straight forward) then I supposed it’s ok... If you are like me that gets bothered by details like this then find something else. I would’ve returned it but I scratched the hitch trying to get the Rockerball sorta aligned. Anyways take my experience with a grain of salt and good luck.

This all-in-one kit does everything it promises to do. I wish I'd learned about it sooner.

The hitch works great as advertised. A great company to deal with along with their prices.

As if it was still new. Great product.

This Curt towing kit has worked flawlessly. The reduction in rattling and jerking is quite noticeable (compared to my standard hitch set-up). My primary use of the Curt kit has been the towing of my teardrop camper; logging thousands of miles already with no problems, and no problems anticipated. The only thing now, a year later, is that the chrome on part of the RockerBall in contact with the hitch has worn off, but this is not surprising to me. I am quite satisfied with this product.

This is great! After a year of wear and tear and plenty of travel time it's still going strong -- love to see that! Thanks for the review :) Where are you headed next with the camper?

by:

This was a game changer for us. The previous hitch receiver made so much noise and we felt the trailer a lot more over bumps than we do with this new hitch. Highly recommend.

  • Comparing Gen-Y and Curt Shock Dampening Ball Mounts
It sounds like you are trying to get the best hitch mounted suspension for your vehicle to not transfer the shock. The Gen-Y Glyder Shock Absorbing Ball Mount for 2" Hitches - 2" Drop, 3-1/2" Rise - 7K # 325-GH-12001 will absolutely work better for that based on design than the Curt RockerBall Anti-Rattle Towing Kit - 2" Ball - 8-1/4" Long Mount - 7,500 lbs # C63KR. Both will absorb some shock with the dampening technology.

  • Gen-Y or Curt RockerBall For 300-400 lb Tongue Weight in 2 Inch Hitch
For your tongue weight, you are right about the Gen-Y Glyder like # 325-GH-12001 not being the best option as that requires a tongue weight of at least 400 lbs to reap the benefits. So for your tongue weight below that, I recommend the RockerBall for the best shock absorption. The Convert-A-Ball and its polyurethane interior won't give you as much cushioning as the RockerBall (which is not compatible with the Convert-A-Ball or other cushioned ball mounts), which is why I like it more....

  • Selecting a Cushioned Ball Mount Capable of a 3" Drop Which Fits a 2" Hitch Receiver
I have a few options depending on the amount you will be towing and how adjustable you want to hitch to be for other trailers. First is the Curt RockerBall Anti-Rattle Towing Kit # C63KR. This uses a standard style ball mount with a cushioned 2" hitch ball. This will be set at the 3" height and is not adjustable but is the most economical of the choices. The Gen-Y Glyder Shock Absorbing Ball Mount # 325-GH-12005 is a cushioned mount. It does allow you to bolt the bracket from a 0-6" drop...

  • Can The Curt RockerBall Be Used With Convert-A-Ball Shock Absorbing Ball Mount?
I personally spoke to Curt who informed me their Curt RockerBall Shock Absorbing 2" Hitch Ball # C40047 should not be used with the Convert-A-Ball Ball Mounts including # CAB-UM. For the best experience I recommend using a ball mount with the correct amount of drop with the RockerBall and a anti-rattle. This will eliminate the play between the ball mount and your receiver allowing the RockerBall to absorb the trailer shock. We have a couple kits which have all the parts listed below otherwise...

  • Curt RockerBall and Convert-A-Ball Compatibility With A 5,000LB Boat Trailer
The Curt RockerBall Shock Absorbing 2" Hitch Ball # C40047 cannot be used with a shock absorbing ball mount like the Convert-A-Ball Ball Mount # AMSC2. It can also not recommend by Curt to be used with surge brake couplers. I recommend using a standard style ball mount with a anti rattle hitch pin for a trailer that does not have a surge brake coupler. This can be found in a kit like the Curt RockerBall Anti-Rattle Towing Kit # C63KR. Remember that the RockerBall adds 1-1/2" to your receiver...

  • Recommended Ball Mount for 2017 Ford F-150 with 16.5" Coupler Height
In order to choose the correct ball mount you'll need to measure from the ground to the top inside edge of the trailer hitch and then subtract the distance from the ground to the bottom of the trailer coupler while level. If this is where you measured from then you'll need around a 3" drop. The Curt RockerBall Anti-Rattle Towing Kit part # C63KR or B&W Tow & Stow 2-Ball Mount part # BWTS10033B are excellent options for this.

  • Can Curt Rockerball be Used with Surge Brakes on Trailer
The Curt Rockerballs like the # C63KR will not interfere with your surge brakes. The movement they allow would not prevent the inertia of your vehicle applying the brakes from activating your surge actuator.

  • Compatibility of Gen-Y Glyder Shock Absorbing Ball Mount With Surge Brakes and Lower Tongue Weight
There will be no issues with using surge brakes along with the Gen-Y Glyder Shock Absorbing Ball Mount for 2" Hitches - 6" Drop - 7K # 325-GH-12005. Also, the Glyder can be used with a lower tongue weight and an empty trailer. The only problem is you need to be at the 4-700 lb range in order to benefit from the built-in shock absorption. If your loaded tongue weight is going to be 250-300 lbs then I would not recommend using this ball mount. Instead, I would recommend the Curt RockerBall...

  • Availability of Ball Mount With 3 Rise/Drop
I'm not 100% sure what you need here but I will assume you're looking for a ball mount for a 2" hitch that either has a 3" rise or a 3" drop. If you need a 3" drop we have the Curt RockerBall Anti-Rattle Towing Kit # C63KR which has a 3" drop exactly or the TowSmart # TS64FR with a 3-1/4" drop which won't be an issue. If you're looking for a 3" rise you can use the Curt # C45313. This doesn't come with a ball so you can use the # A-90 for a 2" ball or # 19286 for a 2-5/16" ball.

  • How Much Drop Does Curt RockerBall Anti-Rattle Towing Kit Have
Hey Matt! The Curt RockerBall Anti-Rattle Towing Kit # C63KR has a 3" drop with the extra height from the ShockDrop. See the attached photo. Are you looking for a certain rise/drop? What kind of trailer are you towing?

  • Shock Absorbing Hitch Ball Mount Compatibility
The Curt Rockerball Shock Absorbing Hitch Ball has anti-Rotation Plate that is not compatible with all hitch mounts. This hitch ball is recommended to be mounted onto standard ball mounts not shock absorbing ones. I recommend the Curt RockerBall Anti-Rattle Towing Kit - 2" Ball - 8-1/4" Long Mount item # C63KR.

  • Recommended Locking Hitch Pin For Curt RockerBall Towing Kit # C63KR
The Curt RockerBall Anti-Rattle Towing Kit - 2" Ball - 8-1/4" Long Mount - 7,500 lbs # C63KR you were looking at has a 2" hitch ball with a 7500lb towing capacity, and for a locking hitch pin you can use the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock for 2" Hitches # e98880. This will replace the anti-rattle hitch pin and plate, so for an anti-rattle device you can also add the etrailer Anti-Rattle Hitch Stabilizer # e99007 to keep the hitch from rattling in your trailer hitch receiver. I included...

  • Is There a Curt RockerBall Anti-Rattle Towing Kit with 2" Ball and 3" Drop
It sounds like you are looking at the Curt RockerBall Anti-Rattle Towing Kits but wanting one with a 2" hitch ball and 3" drop ball mount. If that is the case then you will just need to use part # C63KR. In regards to the Convert-A-Ball Ball Mount like part # AMSCV-2, they both use a polyurethane bushing to reduce shock. The benefit however of the RockerBall is that it can be lubed so it will ideally last longer and reduce noise more.

When it comes to eliminating rattle while pulling your light weight trailer The Curt RockerBall Anti-Rattle Towing Kit - 2 inch Ball - 8-1/4 inch Long Mount - 7,500 pounds # C63KR will get the job done for you. The 2-5/16 ball has a larger shank so it is not interchangeable with the Curt RockerBall Anti-Rattle Towing Kit - 2" Ball - 8-1/4" Long Mount - 7,500 lbs Item # C63KR I recommend Curt RockerBall Shock Absorbing 2-5/16" Hitch Ball - 1-1/4" Diameter Shank - Chrome - 12K Item # C29FR and Curt Solid Ball Mount for 2" Hitches - 3" Rise, 4" Drop - 10" Long - 12K Item # C45313.
