Recommended Upgrade for Utility Trailer Suspension

Updated 06/29/2020 | Published 06/25/2020

Question:

I am converting a standard 5x8 utility trailer into a dog trailer. Diamond plate dog boxes will be mounted to the trailer to carry hunting dogs. I am concerned about the ride bumpy for the dogs. Which products can I add to the trailer to ensure a better ride? Smooth and less bounce.

The trailer will be bumpy for the dogs if you don't add suspension help. I recommend adding the Lippert Components Bolt-On Shock Kit w/ Heavy Duty Gas Shocks - 3,500-lb (2-3/8") Axle # LC281255 if you have 3,500 lb axle. If your axle is smaller than 3,500 lbs, then I recommend the Timbren Trailer Suspension Enhancement System Light-Duty Trailers 1,000 lbs # TTRA1702 to assist with your leaf spring suspension.
