Picking Out Replacement Idler and Drive Head and Tube for Solera Awnings

Updated 06/25/2020 | Published 06/24/2020

Question:

We had a slide awning brake enroute. We found one of the torsion springs and arms. After looking at the other slide room awnings each torsion spring and arm are identical. The fwd and aft torsion spring assemblies look identical to the Idler head assembly in the review video. Do I need to order two idler heads? Is there a different designed slide awing that takes the drive head? I looked up Lippert part manual and the awnings installed on our Montana look identical to the 285148 Idler Head which is what is in the review video. Im confused what the drive head is used for, if I need one to get the damaged awning operational again. Ive been unable to see a picture or video of the drive head.

We have the replacement drive head and roll tube part # LC34FR and the replacement idler head and roll tube part # LC87FR. If you damaged the drive head and idler head you'd want to match what you order with what you need as the idler setup won't fit both sides. The drive head is what does the actually rolling and the idler basically just free spins.
