Why Does Valve for the DeeZee Connector Kit 97962 Have to be Closed During Travel on 2019 Ram 2500

Question:
Why do I need to leave the valve closed when using the Connector Kit for DeeZee Truck Bed Auxiliary Tank on a 2019 Ram 2500?

Expert Reply:
The Connector Kit for DeeZee Truck Bed Auxiliary Tank part # DZ97962 must remain in the off position (valve closed) during travel because the extra volume via the lines and auxiliary tank could introduce an emissions error into the system which could then cause a check engine light to appear which may or may not place the vehicle into limp mode. If you have ever gotten a check engine light from not tightening the gas cap this would be the same type of emissions error as the above. Please note, the Connector Kit for DeeZee Truck Bed Auxiliary Tank will fit 2013 - Present Ram 1500/2500/3500's.
If you don't already have an auxiliary tank, the DeeZee Combo Auxiliary Tank part # DZ92740X is an excellent option as it has both a toolbox and 43 gallon fuel cell. I have attached a list of all other options for you as well. Please note, the auxiliary tanks are designed for diesel fuel only due to DOT requirements for transporting fuel.
