Trailer Wiring that Fits 2019 Honda Passport and Why Does it Store in Trunk
Published 11/20/2019 >
Question:
I am about to order a Drawtite Hitch and a trailer wiring harness 118809 for a 2019 Honda Passport. The installation video and instructions provided do not appear to be for this vehicle. 118809 Also I would prefer the 4 pin connector to be mounted thats one reason Im going with the Drawtite rather than the Curt on the hitch than dragged out of the storage been every time I use it typically 3 times or more a week. The videos and instructions all seem to show the latter. Is it possible to install this product in a permanent fashion without destroying something?

There is an odd referenced to a Subaru in the product description for the Tekonsha wiring kit part # 118809 but I can assure you this does fit your 2019 Honda Passport and is the correct and best kit to go with. I sent an update to have the page looked at so that would be fixed.
Having the 4-way run out of the back hatch is actually the preferred method although it seems like it wouldn't be. Having the 4-way stored inside the cab of the vehicle keeps it protected from rain and moisture to prevent corrosion and keeps it protected from damage to the wiring or connector by rocks or debris that might be on the highway.
You can run the wire through the vehicle if you wish but just keep in mind that this does take more time and you may end up needing additional wire because you will not be routing the wire in a straight line.
As far as mounting the 4-Way end under the vehicle, that, too, can be accomplished though there is some extra work involved and you may have to drill through the bottom of the vehicle. You would need to remove as much flooring as you can from the cargo area in the vehicle, getting down to the bare metal. At this point you would need to locate a grommet or other opening through which you can route the wiring. However there is a good chance any grommet you find will not be large enough to accept the 4-Way.
