Question:

We are trying to determine what parts we need to flat tow our 2019 Chevy Silverado 3500 4WD behind our motorhome. We will need a complete setup. Our motorhome has air brakes, which I'm fairly sure matters. What do we need?

I can absolutely help you out! Flat towing can be a daunting prospect, but I've got you covered. You'll need parts from the following categories: base plates, tow bar, safety cables, lights/wiring, supplemental braking and a rise/drop adapter. I've compiled a list below for you of the parts that I recommend for you to use when flat towing your 2019 Silverado 3500.

Base Plates: Blue Ox Base Plate Kit with Removable Arms # BLU22QR
Tow Bar: Blue Ox Avail Tow Bar # BX7420 (comes with safety cables)
Lights/Wiring: Roadmaster Diode Kit # RM-15267 and Roadmaster Battery Disconnect # RM-766
Supplemental Braking: SMI Stay In Play Duo # SM99243 (for motorhomes with air brakes)
Rise/Drop: similar to # RM-048-8 - see attached help article on how to correctly measure for the appropriately sized adapter for your vehicles

Base plates are going to be vehicle specific and which tow bar you want usually depends on who manufactured your base plates, although adapters are available if you have a tow bar and base plates that don't match. The lights/wiring are going to allow your toad's lights to function and receive a signal from your motorhome and supplemental braking systems are required by law in most states and provinces. Finally, a rise/drop adapter may be required to make sure that your tow bar is level when pulling your vehicle and will be the last piece you'll purchase; you will need to measure everything once you've got your parts installed to determine which one is going to be required.
