The Buyers Products magnetic mounting plates part # 3378895404 are backed with 3M tape which is designed to not affect your paint. I do recommend when you go to remove the magnetic plates to use Goo Gone or 3M General Purpose Adhesive remover to dissolve the sticky residue before trying to remove the plates. Going through car washes may rip them off if you go through one the first couple of days after installation but will be fine after that. I do recommend to remove the light bar from the magnetic plates before going through a car wash.
