Does Steering Wheel Need to be Locked to Flat Tow a 2018 Ram 1500

Question:

First time Flat Towing my 2018 RAM 1500. Are there any concerns with the steering wheel locking in a position that will cause the vehicle to not track properly behind the motorhome? Is there away to keep the steer from locking or should I lock the steering wheel once the vehicle is properly aligned behind the motorhome?

As long as you have a 4WD version of the 2018 Ram 1500 and you follow the recreational towing instructions found in the owner's manual starting on page 447 you won't need to worry about your vehicle not tracking behind your motorhome. There is a specific set of instructions that you need to follow to "tell" your pickup that it is going to be flat towed where I referenced in the manual.

For a complete flat towing setup you will need a base plate kit, tow bar, safety cables, vehicle tow bar wiring, a supplemental braking system, and possibly a high-low adapter. I am attaching a link to a helpful article that goes over all of the specific parts that we recommend (if you don't have anything yet) but if you can tell me what your model is I can make some specific recommendations for you.
