Video Transcript for Review of Roadmaster Flat Tow Wiring Harness - Battery Disconnect - RM39ZT

Hello, everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer. Today we're gonna take a look at this Roadmaster Battery Ace Battery Disconnect with the key fobs, and this is for four and six cylinder gas engines. Now, if you need to disconnect the battery to flat tow your vehicle, you're going to need this kit. This will disconnect your battery with a compact key fob right here, which will make it much safer and faster than having to do it yourself while keeping your towing accessories charged. Also, if you notice, comes with this nice Faraday pouch that you can put your key fobs in.

These will help block the RF signals and prevent accidental activation. And there's no stringing wires through the firewall or mounting switches to the dash. It eliminates the inconvenience and danger of pulling your battery cable yourself. This does provide a nice positive current source for the breakaway switch and other accessories without draining your battery. It will include a marine grade solenoid here.

It's a corrosion resistant solenoid. Has a 200 amp constant duty and 600 amp surge rating. It comes all preassembled for a nice, easy installation. Comes with a nice set of instructions that'll describe how this all installs. And again, the application.

This is for vehicles that'll require the battery to be disconnected for flat towing. To find that out, you do wanna consult your owner's manual. This will work with almost any 12 volt or 24 volt battery, and as we mentioned, it is for four and six cylinder gas engine vehicles only. You do wanna make sure this, one note I wanna mention for you, this is not for use with diesel engine vehicles due to the high compression ratio of the diesels. The engine could surge up to 10 times that of a gas engine at the start up, which could cause the solenoid to fail.

Now this, we mentioned, is for four and six cylinder. If you need it for an eight cylinder gas or a diesel engine, we do sell a separate kit that goes by a part number of RM93MR. Now also disconnecting the battery, whether manually or with this automatic disconnect, will affect your vehicle's electronics. So you will probably need to reset various electrical components in your vehicle following use of this product. Also, a charge line hit is sold separately. It is recommended if you have a braking system that is using power from the tow vehicle's battery while it's disconnected. If you need that charge line kit, again, we sell it separately, part number RM156-25.
