Question:
I have a 2017 Ford Fusion with the 1.5 L Eco-Boost engine. Can this tow a trailer with a max gross vehicle weight of 2500 lbs uhaul 4x8 or 2700lbs uhaul 5x8? the u-haul site says with a 3,500.00 lbs hitch either trailer is an option allowable cargo weight is different. Am looking at the Curt Class 2 hitch Code: C12091

I took a look at the owner's manual for the 2017 Ford Fusion and the 1.5L GTDI Eco-boost Engine and the maximum trailer weight that it can tow is 1,000 lbs that is including the cargo inside the trailer itself. So if you used the 4x8 cargo trailer for example, it weighs 850 lbs empty so you would only be able to put 150 lbs of cargo in it to tow it with your Fusion.
The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C12091 is a good choice for the Fusion as long as it's not considered the Sport model. It is a concealed cross tube so you cannot see the cross tube once the hitch is installed. The Curt hitch does have a 3,500 lb gross towing weight capacity but you should not exceed the 1,000 lb rating for the Fusion because it could cause damage to the vehicle frame and transmission.
