Question:
I was told there were existing wires under dash for hooking the explorer up to a 2005 dodge 2500. Is there a plug I can buy to plug into the wiring harness of this truck?

If your Ram is equipped with the factory tow package with the 7-way trailer connector at the rear bumper, there will be a connection point under the dash for a brake controller. Behind the emergency brake pedal, there is a white box attached to the firewall. The connector for the brake controller is blue in color, and is typically located above or alongside the white box. I am not familiar with an Explorer brake controller. If you use the Draw-Tite Activator like the controller you referenced, you would need a wiring adapter, part # 3020-P if the controller has a socket on the rear of the unit, or if the controller you have has wire leads exiting the rear, you will need part # 3020-S to plug into the under dash connector.
If your Ram is not equipped with the 7-way, the blue connector will not be present, and the controller will need to be hardwired, using our Brake Controller Install Kit, part # ETBC7. The Install Kit contains everything needed to install a brake controller.
I have provided links to some FAQ pages that will outline the install process for you, as well as provide more information about brake controllers. I've also linked you to an install video.
