How To Mount the Solera Slide-Topper To Aluminum Siding

Updated 05/07/2019 | Published 05/04/2019

Question:

I have aluminum siding on my RV. Normally the brackets would be put in the upper corners inside the flange. No issue for fiberglass siding. The problem with my set up is the corners happen to be on the out-going bulge of the siding, thereby crushing the siding when screwing in the bracket. Any thoughts or alternative install methods you can think of?

In order to attach the support arm bracket on the Solera 9' Slide-Topper part # LCV000163290 you are going to have no other option but to crush part of the aluminum siding because there is nowhere else you can attach the bracket. It may also be necessary to install some sort of backing plate behind the bracket but I would not have specifics on this without seeing the trailer in person. If you are not comfortable completing this process yourself then I strongly recommend you seek professional installation.
