Recommended Rebuild Gear Kit for Bulldog Jack

Question:
I have a cattle trailer with a bulldog square jack on it. recently, it is getting increasingly harder to lower or raise the jack. I took the square plate off jack, but mine is a 1983 trailer, so there is a drive in pin, instead of a spring on shaft.. The pin seems to be stuck in the turning rod. How to get the pin out, without damaging the jack.

Expert Reply:
Without the spring that holds the shaft pin and gear in place, you likely will need to drive that pin out as it is likely pressed in. If it is really stuck in there, you may need to drill it out to ensure you don't damage the jack. Then you can use the Replacement Gear Kit for Bulldog Sidewind Jacks w/ 12,000-lb Capacity # BD500212.
