How to Remove Handle from 8k Square Bulldog Jack

Question:
How do I remove the handle from a bulldog square trailer jack 8000 lb? To replace the shear pin in the vertical shaft ? I see the shear pin holding the gear on the sidewinder crank handle but it does not move when driven. Do I need to hit it harder? Really wail on the hammer/punch?

I spoke to my contact at Bulldog and he told me that the pin you are trying to get out is a 5/32 grooved pin that will need to be tapped out with a punch like you mentioned. It's designed not to come out so you will need to hit it pretty hard.
Once you get the pin out the handle will come off.
