Will etrailer.com Hitch # e98840 Fit 2018 Acura MDX and Allow Spare Tire to Reinstall

Question:

The E98840 looks like a nice design. My question relates to clearance from the spare tire hanging under the rear compartment. My 2018 MDX+Tech package comes stock with 20” tires: 245/50R20, and a temporary spare size T165/80D17, which I presume is the same overall diameter as the main tires. Will the E98840 hitch clear this spare? Diameters seem to be about 29”. Follow-up Q: Acura says when the spare is in use, you can hoist the regular 20” tire up into the spare’s storage space. Will a full size tire clear the hitch? If the diameters are the same, it should. Thanks,

The etrailer.com hitch part # e98840 you referenced which fits your 2018 Acura MDX will allow the spare you have to fit easily. The spare needs to come down during the install process but it easily gets reinstalled once that is complete. We had a customer come back and tell us that the 17 inch diameter spare like what you have was able to be reinstalled. Also check out the picture I attached that shows the spare mounted with the hitch mounted as well.
