Question:
Hi John, thanks for the reply I will swap the black and blue wire and see if that fixes it or just simply try to bypass the car and hook up the blue wire directly to the brake controller. My trailer does have reverse lights. So where should I connect the red wire to that comes from the 7 pin plug? Thanks

Thank you for all of the details.
I'm glad to hear that all of your lighting functions are working properly. That takes quite a bit of troubleshooting out of the equation. The red wire that was referenced looks to carry the reverse light function. If your trailer has reverse lights then you definitely want to make that connection. For the answer page you are referencing the customer was looking to use the Adapter # 37185 along with the T-One # 118266 which is the equivalent of the Curt # C56226 you mentioned. Since the reverse light function isn't always needed that is why there was no reference to connecting the reverse light function.
From what you mentioned I believe that the 12V power and your brake controller wires are mixed up. You can confirm this by testing the pin in the 1 o'clock position to see if it has constant power. If it doesn't then you simply need to swap the 2 wires on that black plug for the Curt wiring. If it does have 12V power then something isn't wired correctly on your 2012 Nissan Pathfinder. In this case you can either trace the wiring for the brake controller to see if there are any places where it is touching and getting 12V power or simply route 10 Gauge Wire # 10-1-1 from the brake controller pin on the 7-Way up to the blue wire on the Adapter # 3050-P you have for the Prodigy P2 # 90885.
I have attached some videos and a helpful article to help with this installation. Let me know if you are still having problems and I can help you troubleshoot further.
