Question:
Need to have trailgate down when towing my travel trailer My tow vehicle is a 2013 F150 with tow package and I own at NuCamp Tab 400 Boondock Lite travel trailer 325 lb tongue weight and 2600 lb dry weight and I would like to take my motorcycle with me when camping. To take the motorcycle, I would need to travel with the tailgate down which introduces potential issues with the turning radius when backing up not to mention problems with the jack. Would a Torklift hitch Item # TLF1005H plus a hitch extension Item # TLE1524 or Item # TLE1536 work for the scenario I am describing? Thank you for you help.

Expert Reply:
for your 2013 Ford F-150 the TorkLift SuperHitch Hero Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class IV - Dual 2" Receivers # TLF1005H will partner with the factory hitch on your truck. It is designed for 6-1/2 foot bed trucks which is what it sounds like you have.
This will give you the ability to use the TorkLift SuperTruss Hitch Extension for SuperHitch Trailer Hitch Receivers - 24" Long # TLE1524 or the 36 inch long # TLE1536 you mentioned to give you the clearance required for your tailgate and trailer jack.
There are also other length like the 28 inch # TLE1528 or the 32 inch # TLE1532. These extensions will allow the strength and durability you need to tow your trailer with the tailgate down in order to haul your motorcycle along with your NuCamp Tab 400 trailer
