Question:
Hello, Im planning to buy the following for my 2014 toyota sienna 1. CURT 13105 Class 3 Trailer Hitch 2. one of the following three cargo carriers 1. 24x60 Curt Cargo Carrier for 2inch Hitches - Steel - Folding - 500 lbs Item # C18153 2. 19x60 Curt Cargo Carrier for 2inch Hitches - Aluminum - Folding - 500 lbs Item # C18100 3. 23x60 Stromberg Carlson Cargo Carrier for 2inch Hitches - Steel - 500 lbs Is the weight of C18153 really 70lbs while cc-100 is only 39lbs? They have similar dimension except the side wall height. C18153s side wall is rail instead of a solid piece of steel. So where do the extra 30lbs come from? Item # CC-100 3. A Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock 4. 4 sets of Bike Rack Adapter for Stromberg Carlson Hitch Mounted Cargo Carrier Item # CC-125 For #3, does # 40107 work with #1 and #2? Do you have any other suggestions on trailer hitch receiver locks that work with #1 and #2? Thanks!

Expert Reply:
Curt steel hitch cargo carrier # C18153 has a shipping weight of 71-lbs. Their aluminum carrier # C18100 has a shipping weight of 29-lbs (because it is lightweight aluminum rather than steel). The low-cost Stromberg Carlson steel cargo carrier # CC-100 has a shipping weight of 40-lbs. The weight differences are due to the different materials used and the fact that the Stromberg Carlson carrier does not fold up, so it does not have the added weight that comes from a folding hinge mechanism.
Hitch lock # e98882 works with any of these carriers but I suggest an anti-rattle type lock such as # 63232.
Since you want to use the Bike Adapter kit # CC-125 I recommend the heavier-duty Curt steel carrier # C18151.
