Can Valve Extenders be Used on Rubber Valve Stems

Question:

Using 18090 Nickel plated Tire Valve extension on Rubber tire Valve I would like to add Tire Valve Extension on my front tires of my Motor Home and I keep reading that you should not use this product with rubber tire valves? Another site I read some guy used on his Motorhome and they work great? If this product would not work what would you recommend? Thanks

While we do not currently carry the Pacific Dualies 18090 valve stem extenders that you mentioned, I did some research and found that the manufacturer does state that they don't recommend them for use with rubber valve stems. From what I could find it looks like this is because the design on those particular extenders may lead to leaks when used with rubber stems.

With that being said, I called my contact at Wheel Masters regarding the Valve Extenders # WM8029 that you were also looking at (which we do carry) and she stated that these will have no problems at all with rubber valve stems. Since rubber valve stems can be pretty flimsy she just recommends adding the Support Brackets # WM8029VS.
